BUDDY HOLLY TRIBUTE BAND "THE WIENERS"

The Wieners are a fifties style rock'n'roll - trio from the Netherlands,

           founded in 2005. Buddy Holly has always been the main inspiration for

        Jaap Wijn (voc / drums / guitar)

                                       Rob Roemers (voc / guitar)

        Roland Verbruggen (voc / double bass)

so in 2007 they started to make tribute shows in theatres and on festivals.

For these shows the band got help from drummer Mark van de Laar and

piano-player Gijsbert van der Wal. They are not a lookalike band but the

music is brought on a very authentic way, for example cardboard boxes are

used instead of drums, in the songs that were recorded that way.

Also ALL Crickets' backing vocals are there.

In 2008 The Wieners accompanied Buddy Holly guitarist Tommy Allsup  and

also in March/April 2010 Allsup will join the band for a short European tour.

The live tribute-CD 'Just Like Buddy Holly' brought The Wieners airplays on several national TV- and radio-shows in Belgium and the Netherlands, samples of which you can see on their website.

     One more proof:  It's 2009 and Buddy Holly is still alive !

  THE WIENERS aus NL spielen seit 2005 als Fünfziger Jahre - Rock 'n' Roll -

  Trio, aber Buddy Holly war immer schon die wichtigste Inspiration für

                             Jaap Wijn ( Gesang, Drums, Gitarre ),

                             Rob Roemers ( Gesang, Gitarre ) und

                             Roland Verbruggen ( Gesang, Ak. Bass ).

Deshalb   starteten   sie 2007 eine		Buddy Holly    Tribute Show    für Theater    und Festivals.
	Die CD gibt's übrigens bei Rockhouse.

Die Gruppe wird dabei unterstützt von 2 zusätzlichen Musikern:

Mark van de Laar (Drums / Percussion) und Gijsbert van der Wal (Piano).

Ziel ist, die Musik von Buddy und The Cickets so zu spielen, wie es damals

geschah, bis hin zum Trommeln auf Kartons in manchen Songs und die

Backing Vocals so zu singen wie auf den Crickets - Platten.

Im Jahr 2008 begleitete die Gruppe Buddy Holly's Gitarrenspieler Tommy

Allsup und auch im März/April 2010 wird Allsup zusammen mit den Holländern

aufreten (bis jetzt noch nicht in Deutschland...).

Die  live  Tribute-CD  'Just  Like  Buddy  Holly'  brachte  The  Wieners  viele

Sendeminuten  in  diversen  Fernseh-  und  Radio - Programmen  in  Belgien  und

den  Niederlanden.
