– In 2004, the Buddy Holly Center started an ongoing project entitled Postcards to Buddy.
In remembrance of Buddy Holly and his music, fans from around the world created and mailed in original postcards honoring the Rock ‘n’ Roll legend.
Expanding on the success of the original concept, the Buddy Holly Center has put out a call for postcards to be contributed for a new exhibit to be featured in the museum’s Texas Musicians Hall of Fame from August 20, 2008 through March 22, 2009.
Postcards to Buddy was on exhibit as we celebrated Buddy Holly’s 72nd birthday on September 7, 2008 and as we remember Buddy on February 3, 2009, the 50th anniversary of his death.
Buddy Holly fans are asked to create and mail in original handmade standard size (4 x 6 inch, 10.16 x 15.24 cm.) postcards expressing their appreciation and love of Buddy and his music. Included with the exhibit will be a world map displaying where the postcards have come from and how far Buddy’s legacy has spread.
The Buddy Holly Center will continue to accept postcard submissions throughout the year.

The Center collects, preserves and presents artifacts, materials, artworks, and exhibitions consistent with professional museum standards. Exhibitions and programs reflect the diverse cultural characteristics of the region and encourage interaction between artists and the community. The Center collects, preserves and interprets artifacts relevant to Lubbock's most famous native son, Buddy Holly, as well as to other performing artists and musicians of West Texas.
Changing exhibitions in the visual arts provide an arena for celebrating the technical virtuosity and creative talents of fine artists at work in a region distinguished by vast distances and a rich tradition of creative resources.
