I thought I knew BUDDY'S SONG. Up to a telephone call in 2008, when a German Buddy Holly Fan, Klaus Minnerup, guitarist in a band, asked me for the lyrics of BUDDY'S SONG by Dave Travis. I sent him the only lyrics I knew, the ones sung by Bobby Vee and Fleetwood Mac. Klaus told me, that he was looking for the other song with the same title, music and lyrics absolutely different, composed and sung by Dave Travis.
My friend John Beecher, Europe's # 1 Buddy Holly historian, arranged the contact between me and Dave and one week later I received a letter from Southampton with the lyrics and a personal message by Dave.
Now I own the CD "Jukebox Cadillac" incl. "Buddy's Song" and I'm absolutely excited about this tribute song by a true fan. Worth to listen to it and worth to buy this CD.

Ich möchte Euch berichten von einem Tribute - Song, den ich bis 2008 nicht kannte, obwohl ich glaubte, ihn zu kennen: BUDDY'S SONG. Kennt doch jeder, wirst Du sagen, hat Bobby Vee gesungen und auch Fleetwood Mac. Stimmt, so dachte ich auch, bis mich ein Buddy - Fan aus Georgsmarienhütte, Klaus Minnerup, eines Besseren belehrte. Es gibt ZWEI völlig unterschiedliche Tributes auf Buddy Holly mit dem Titel BUDDY'S SONG. Den Titel wollte ich unbedingt hören und seinen Text haben.
Mein Freund John Beecher aus England, der Experte Nr. 1 in Europa, stellte den Kontakt zu Dave Travis her, der mir freundlicherweise den Text per Brief zuschickte. Klaus aus GM hatte nach dem Text gefragt, da er das Lied mit seinen Bandmitgliedern vor Publikum spielen wollte. So hatten wir beide was davon, als der nette Brief von Dave Travis ankam.
Inzwischen habe ich die CD "JUKEBOX CADILLAC" incl. "BUDDY'S SONG" und bin absolut begeistert. Da merkt man den echten Buddy Holly Fan. Hörenswert und kaufenswert.
