It was this day in 1959 that rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens
and JP Richardson, along with pilot Roger Peterson, were killed in a plane crash.
It’s one of the darkest days in music history and was even dubbed as
“The Day the Music Died in Don MacLean’s song ‘American Pie’.
